Staff very professional and friendly. Location is perfect for viewing the beauty of the gorge and the Columbia. Open area of lounge with massive fireplace (real wood) comfortable chairs and view is wonderful for relaxing and reading.
Mattress was not quite as comforatable as I expected for a luxury hotel.

I recently stayed at a beautiful hotel in an idyllic spot just a short drive from PDX. The room was perfect, complete with a cozy fireplace. The pool was quiet and high quality, and the outdoor hot tub was a great addition. The hotel has added exciting new activities like ziplines, hiking trails, and bike trails. The view of the Columbia River gorge and mountains was breathtaking. a casual, clean, and quiet lodge perfect for outdoor enthusiasts like myself.

My husband and I felt very welcome from the moment we stepped into the Lodge to check in. We were very impressed with the very friendly and caring customer service Whitney gave us! Thank you again! We also had great service during our meals. Excellent food. Couldn't have asked for a better group of waiters and waitresses. This was our second visit to Skamania Lodge and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Pleasant stay. Beautiful grounds and loved the view.
The shower was clogged, really clogged and no one came to fix it after reporting it. wish there was an outside pool. The weather was beautiful and a pool would have been wonderful.

The property had beautiful grounds and a lodge-like atmosphere, creating a relaxing getaway. The view of the Columbia River and Gorge was stunning, and it was a convenient hour drive from downtown Portland. The casual restaurant on-site, River Rock, offered decent food and nice views.
There were a few issues during my stay. The outdoor hot tub was broken, and there was no notification beforehand.

We enjoyed out stay. We love the gorge area where the lodge is located with nearby winery, views, wonderful trail around golf course, etc. Enjoyed the raptor "show" very much. The relaxed atmosphere and lovely view from the lodge is great no matter what the weather.
We were disappointed in a couple of areas - we had dinner in the dining room Sat evening, 8/27. My husband had the trout which was extremely bland! I had the salmon - also not great (dry). The cherry cobbler was terrible - with bing cherries that you could not even taste! The vanilla ice cream was delicious, so all was not lost. In the past, we have had excellent food at Skamania - is there a new chef? Finally, the mattress on our bed. I asked if they had any rooms with new mattresses - I was told that they were new. If a new mattress, we were surprised at the quality. Loved the morning breakfast in the bar area. It was excellent all the way around and we enjoyed sitting outside. Service was excellent, too!

The view of the Columbia River gorge and mountains is amazing. The hotel itself is nice, with a beautiful lobby and outdoor hot tub. The casual restaurant serves good food, and the king suite room we upgraded to was spacious and comfortable. The outdoor fire pit area and trails around the property were also great.
Almost perfect, but a few areas for improvement. We expected a bit more service for the price we paid, such as valet parking or assistance with our bags.

Dining room and dining staff were excellent. Staff was friendly and had a good attitude. I felt they really wanted to make our stay as perfect as possible. Dinner and brunch buffets were both excellent. Lots of choices and good food.
Cost was high, especially to those on a limited budget. Dining room prices were very high.
